Personal correspondence of James Birtley McNair, chiefly his letters to his brother William Righter McNair and sister Rebecca Sharon McNair. The letters to William Righter McNair, written mostly between 1915 and 1930, discuss his academic studies, career, professional interests, personal and social life, science, politics, and family history. The letters to Rebecca S. McNair, posted from Camp Swift, Tex. in 1942 and 1943, describe McNair's military service, camp life, local news, family matters, etc. There are a few letters from California State Commission of Horticulture regarding McNair's research of citrus diseases in 1909-1910, and several letters related to his genealogical research. Also included are copies and reprints of McNair's scientific articles and papers.
